Beautiful Skin: Reduce Acne

Ever since I was a little girl I was fascinated by people who had clear and beautiful skin. My aunt was a dermatologist and my sister was her high school’s beauty queen, needless to say I felt a lot of pressure to look my best.

When I went through my awkward teenage years, acne became my worst enemy and I found myself withdrawing from social gatherings because I was so self-conscious about my facial skin tone.

I know I am not alone as 50 million Americans suffer from acne each year and over 95% of people will experience it at some point in their lives.

As a result, I dedicated my spare time in college to finding natural and innovative ways to improve the health of my skin and the results were incredible.

I cleared my acne and have been able to take much better care of my now glowing skin by using a few simple strategies that I will share in this post.

I truly hope you enjoy these tips and apply them!

Step 1: Create Your Own All-Natural Facial Mask

There are many great recipes that you use to help clear and soften your skin but the best ones are always the type that encourage you to use a simple and natural blend.

My favorite facial mask is my special Sticky Cayenne Surprise which can be prepared by simply using:

1 cup of whole organic milk
¼ cup of organic wild honey
1 Tablespoon of Cayenne Pepper

Stir it all up (by hand is fine) and apply to your face (avoiding your eyes) and let it sit for 30-45 minutes then simply rinse.

This works wonders for me in keeping my skin soft and glowing.

I absolutely love it and highly recommend that you try it yourself.

Step 2: Detoxify Your Body Consistently

Many people know about the benefits of making sure to detoxify your body and remove toxins (which can detrimentally affect the health of your skin) but detoxing should not be a one-off thing that you do as a routine periodic event.

We should be detoxing daily.

Sound difficult?

It’s not – you just need to identify the right tools to put yourself in position for success.

Focus on adding Brassica Vegetables such as: Broccoli and Brussels sprouts.

These powerful veggies contain glucosinolates, which are compounds that contain Sulfur and activate liver detoxification enzymes.

There have been studies showing that glucosinolates can play a role in ridding the body of carcinogens, particularly having the ability to impact the reduced risk of stomach, lung and colorectal cancers.

Step 3: Increase Your Protein Intake

Believe it or not, protein plays a huge role in the process of helping us develop and maintain healthy-looking skin.

A study found subjects who consumed less protein to have worsening acne symptoms as opposed to those who ate a diet that was extremely high in protein (+40%)

This is because high protein diets fight acne because it slows down then conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone.

Dihydrotestosterone is what stimulates the production of excess oil in the skin which can aid in the development and sustainment of acne.

The really neat thing is that you do not have to eat heaps of meat (I personally stick to a plant-based diet) to get more protein into your diet because there are plenty of protein shakes that can give you a great amount of protein in an easy-to-drink smoothie.

I used to despise protein shakes because I thought they all tasted like chalk but I have since found a few that are pretty delicious and do the job pretty well.

Step 4: Use Pure Oils that Will Not Clog Your Pores

Most oils are absolutely terrible for your skin but there are a few, like Argan oil, that actually help in keeping your largest organ glowing.

Argan oil comes from the nuts of the Moroccan Argan tree and are naturally rich in carotene and other phenolic compounds that gives it a powerful antioxidant property.

Argan oil is also very rich in vitamin E and omega 3s and 6s, which play an important role in helping your skin look young, beautiful and tenderly soft.

Step 5: Get Active!

While we all know that exercise is one of the best ways to tighten our abs and our waistlines but it is also very important for optimal skin health!

This step is so vital yet it is the one that a lot of folks skip because quit honestly, it requires a lifestyle change.

While it is easy to create a facial mask and remember to use Argan oil on a consistent basis, consistent working out is something that you need to integrate into your weekly schedule if you want your skin to look its absolute best.

Regular exercising helps boost circulation which helps your blood bring more oxygen to your skin.

Exercising also aids in drawing toxins out of your body because sweating can clean out the pores of your often congested skin.

Now It Is Your Turn

There you have it – 5 clear steps that if followed correctly, will definitely help you on your journey to better skin. It will not happen in a day but if you are persistent and committed to the health of your skin, I am certain that you will see the results.
