We are aware about the ill-effects of cholesterol. It makes the body prone to cardiovascular diseases. Consuming fried and high fat foods often result in the increase of cholesterol levels in the body.

Including onions in our diet helps reduce the cholesterol count to a great extent. This is because onions have high amount of antioxidant Quercetin, which inhibits Cholesterol (LDL) from forming hard layers of its compounds around the arteries. Onions are also said to be rich in Sulfur compounds which are good for the production of HDL in the body.

Onions effectively work against common cold and flu due to their anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties. Maintaining an optimum amount of onion in our daily diet can improve our body’s immunity.

5. Good for Skin
