With a little effort, it is possible to achieve younger looking skin. Wrinkles are usually the first sign that old age is finally catching up with you. However, there are some exercises that have shown to reduce wrinkles, and in some cases reverse skin aging in people. They include:
1. Exercise the Upper Lip
Using one hand, place the thumb and the index finger on the upper corners of the mouth to create a V shape. Use the same procedure on the lower corners of the mouth. While looking up, try to force a smile against the pressed fingers. This exercises the area around the mouth and helps to get rid of upper lip wrinkles.
2. Exercise the Upper Eyelids
It basically involves working the muscles around the eyeball. Place index fingers on outside corners of the eyes. The middle fingers should be placed in the center of the eyebrows. Push up gently and look down followed by squeezing the eyes shut tight.
3. Exercise the Lower Eyelids
Place the index fingers in the same position as they were when performing the exercise for the upper eyelids. The middle fingers should, however, be placed on inside corners of the eyes. Press gently and close your eyes while looking up. You should ensure that fingers remain in their correct position throughout the exercise.
4. Exercise Both Eyelids
Use your thumbs and index fingers to form little binocular-like circles around the eyes. The thumb should be on the lower side while the index finger is on the upper side. Gently lift the two to widen the circles. Scrunch the lower eyelids (to look like you are squinting) but at the same time ensure that you keep the fingers at their correct position.
5. Exercise the Neck
Keeping your fingers close together with thumbs spread, place one hand on the bottom of the neck. Place the other hand on top of the initial hand and point your chin toward the roof. Pulling down on chest, smile with your lips closed.
Other Natural Ways to Get rid of Wrinkles
Apart from the above exercises, there are other ways you may use to get rid of wrinkles. They comprise of:
1. Quit Smoking
The effects of smoking are too many, and aggravating wrinkles is one of them. If you are looking to have wrinkle-free skin, then smoking is not an option for you. Actually, it’s never an option for anyone, as the consequences are dire. Your overall health is put at risk. Though it’s not easy to quit smoking, it is possible.
2. Take Sufficient Amounts of Water and Moisturize
When you are hydrated, your skin is soft, and it is difficult for wrinkles to form easily. About eight glasses of water a day will do. This will moisturize the skin from the inside. Ensure that you keep your skin hydrated from the outside as well by applying an effective moisturizer.
3. Avoid the Sun
One of the major causes of wrinkles is sun damage. The sun’s UV rays are harmful to the skin and thus you should apply sunscreen with the correct SPF (about 15 or higher) before you step out of the house. Protective clothing will also protect various parts of the skin, such as the hands and face. Sunglasses and hats should never leave your side at this time. You require protection even during the winter, as the UV rays are still present. Note that this is also a time when the skin is most susceptible to damage.
4. Facial Massage
Relaxing the muscles on your face will keep the wrinkles at bay and stir up blood flow under the skin. It will also ensure that the skin retains its elasticity and fine lines do not appear. Use your finger to massage the face with oil such as coconut. You should do this in inward and outward motions.
5. Develop a Healthy Lifestyle
Exercise, eating healthy and getting sufficient amounts of sleep are but some of the things that comprise a healthy lifestyle. They will not only help your skin to be wrinkle free but also ensure that you don’t suffer from lifestyle diseases such as obesity and diabetes.
Having wrinkle free skin takes a lot of effort, but it’s worth it at the end of the day. Try the above ways and see which one works best for you.
