Weight loss in a week

More than likely, you already know some or all of the following tips. If you do, then they will be a reminder to you and help get you back on track. If you don’t, you will find in them easy ways to start losing weight right away.

1. Drink water

(Like you never heard this one before 🙂 ) Most of us do not drink enough water and wonder why we feel tired, have headaches, gain weight, retain fluids, and/or just plain don’t feel well.

Lack of a sufficient amount of water may be the cause of any of these and other symptoms you may have. Water aids in releasing stored fat and flushing it and those nasty toxins out of your system.

Dehydration causes the body to hold onto its current water supply and fluid retention is the result. And the fat cells stay just the way they are — bloated and storing fat and toxins.

Recommendation: Drink more water! Click Here for more information on water, its benefits and effects.

2. Take a walk every day

If you own a dog, great! You have a perfectly legitimate excuse to go for a walk – stop telling the kids to do it. Okay, you say, I don’t have a dog and don’t have time to take a walk every day

First off, walks are enjoyable, calming to the soul, and great for the heart, muscles, and health. But if you really don’t think you can make this part of your routine at least a few times a week, do some form of exercise you are comfortable with daily.

Biking, swimming, treadmill, tennis, volleyball, kickboxing, heck, even Wii can increase your heart rate and help burn fat!

3. Get and Do a cleansing program

Extra waste in the body should be eliminated and if you are not eating healthfully, this should be one of the first steps to getting rid of unwanted toxins and waste.

Get and Do a cleansing program

The build up of toxins and waste in your system can make you feel bloated, tired, and irritable and leave you venerable to illness and disease.

There are many types of cleanses to choose from. If you’ve never done a cleansing program before, you should probably start with one that is easy on your system. I’ve tried different cleanses and found some to be too difficult to incorporate into my daily routine and others to be downright yucky.

What you need is a good cleanse that is easy on the system and will detoxify the whole body. A cleansing program that I like is GNC’s complete body cleansing pIt’s a 7-day program, so I know I can stick with it for a week. Some are longer. You should never do two in a row – read all information in the program’s materials before you start.

4. Eat! Do not starve yourself

If you ever tried to diet in the past, you are already familiar with the term “starvation mode.” When your body thinks you are not giving it enough food, it will hold onto the fat that it has because it thinks it’s not going to get any more or enough and it will need it for fuel.

Eating small, healthy meals throughout the day is best, but with the lifestyles many of us live, this may not be reasonable.

If you go for long periods between meals, have small, healthy snacks – you know the ones, carrots, granola bars, etc. And drink water with the snack.

5. Restaurant portions are OUT

At mealtimes, keep your portions down. Have you ever watched a thin person eat? They’re the ones leaving the restaurant with doggy bags. They stop when they begin to feel full. Oh, so now you say you couldn’t possibly live on those portions. Well, yes you can. You just have to get there.

Restaurants notoriously give large portions (unless they’re French) because they want customers to return and large portions are a great way to keep them coming back. Your goal here is to eat half of what you order and take the other half home for tomorrow.

The ultimate goal here is to shrink your stomach so it doesn’t require so much food at one time before it feels full. It will get there. Just cut back by small and smaller amounts to start with and you’ll be needing less food intake in no time. Of course, the same goes at home – smaller portions. Don’t forget to drink water before and with your meals to help you with this as well.

6. Eat Healthfully

Lay of fried foods and stay away from fast food joints. With all the additives, saturated fats, and growth hormones in the foods at fast food restaurants, you really don’t want to go there, do you? Yes, you say? Okay, do you know why you said yes? Because fast food restaurants know what you want.

Eat Healthfully to lose weight in a week

You want comfort with no surprises. You want convenience. You want an easy routine for weight loss. People are comfortable in these places. They know exactly what to expect and what they will get (even if it is not good for them). We all know it’s not about the food.

This is a bad routine to get caught up in. Plus, the food is literally addicting. You are what you eat! So, if you must eat at a fast food restaurant, stick with the salads.

Side note: I can’t eat fast food hamburgers or Mexican food from a fast food place. Since I have been giving my body good nutrition for years, I literally get ill from those. I tried twice in a pinch in recent years and was sorry I did.

I got a stomachache and the big D both times. It’s been about two years since the last time I tried. This is not a bad thing. My body reacted adversely as its way of telling me it isn’t used to and doesn’t like fast food.

7. Cut out sugar and sugar substitutes

Go organic or natural. Sue, one of our contributors, is constantly telling everyone how she lost 10 kilos or 20 pounds in less than two weeks just by cutting out sugar. And I believe her because I was there.

Now, don’t think we are promoting sugar substitutes because we aren’t. Why would you replace refined sugar, which at least started out in a natural form, with pure chemicals that your body views as toxins? Organic or unrefined, natural sugar is the way to go – and not gobs of it. If you have a sweet tooth, please learn to control it for your heath’s sake.

If you are diabetic, try Truvia or Stevia, which at least have a natural base.

In researching Sugar in the Raw, we learned that it is refined but not as refined as white pure cane sugar. However, it is still processed to a degree so not as ‘raw’, which is the impression you might get from its name. Still, it’s a step up from white, cane sugar and a lot better than sugar substitutes.

This also goes for foods and beverages that tout they are ‘diet’ or lite’ as well. Don’t groan – sugar substitutes are pure poison to our bodies. Love the taste? Yeah, they knew you would, and they also know you will eat or drink more because you are rationalizing that it is better for you. Don’t believe it.

8. Get a full body massage

Any good massage therapist will tell you that a massage releases toxins from cells where they are hiding and fat cells which store them in your body.

Get a full body massage

They should also tell you to drink lots of water afterward to flush those toxins out once they are released into your system.

A great, full-body massage with your partner will also help you relax, reduce stress, and increase your energy as well.

9. Eat fresh fruits and vegetables as opposed to canned or frozen

My brother recently told me that he heard that frozen vegetables were just as good as fresh. Yeah, and everything you read or hear is the gospel truth, right? While frozen vegetables are better than canned they are still not as good as fresh. The more food is grown in chemically fed soil, processed, and preserved, the more toxins are used to keep them that way.

They are also not the source of water fresh fruits and vegetables are. Remember, the more natural you keep what goes into your body, the more your body responds with good health.

To go the extra mile here – go organic. Now we’re talking no pesticides, growth hormones, or chemical fertilizers. Plus, their nutritional value is greater by far from their non-organic neighbors. However, if you find that organic foods are not easy to find or that they put a hurtin’ on your purse, fresh is still better than frozen or canned.

10. And, last but not least, Re-lax

Take a deep breath. Pick one of the tips to start with today and give it a day or more, even a week, before adding another small change. It’s up to you but I know you can handle two in your first week.

Relax

If you do at least three of these tips right now, you are probably cussing me out for telling you that you would not have to make any drastic changes to your lifestyle. But if you are serious about losing weight, you will have to make healthier choices.

It’s just a matter of taking Baby Steps. To make it easier to take the first step in deciding which changes will be the easiest to implement into your lifestyle, see Ideas for Lifestyle Balance Routines and Change.

Just a last note: Your body is ORGANIC and views anything that is not organic as a toxin. The more toxins you introduce to your system in the multitude of ways they get in these days, the more prone to disease and ill health we become.

They also deter your ability to lose weight. You can’t really help some of them, like air pollution, unless you live in a bubble, and there are loads of toxins around us every day from outside sources – too many to go into here.

But the ones you introduce to yourself such as OTC medications and synthetic vitamins, processed foods, alcohol, tobacco, etc. are the ones you do have control over.

If you smoke, quit. If you drink alcohol, don’t even think about it this week and do so lightly when you do in the future. Work with me here and we’ll have you kilos or pounds lighter in no time.
